"When I was a child I used to love drawing yellow trucks. I remember vividly the amazement in seeing the drawing just finished together with my grandfather."
I am an Illustrator, Lead Background Artist, Concept Artist and Matte Painter. I was born in Chile and at the age of 4 we moved with my family to Rome, Italy, where I started attending drawing schools in order to start working as an illustrator for publishing houses and advertising agencies.
Later, by chance, towards the end of the 1980s, I started working as a set designer and so I fell in love with cartoons to the point of turning it my main profession thanks to collaborations with studios such as : Graphilm, Graphisme, Animundi....
In 2001 I moved to Barcelona, where I currently live. In this city I made an important qualitative leap, both professionally and personally. I became more sensitive and aware of the world around me, increasing my ability to observe shapes, light and colours.
In the early years I had great satisfaction working for important productions such as Filmax, Cromosoma, Locomotion and Acció, in the latter becoming responsible for photography in two animated films.

Unfortunately, however, the overbearing entry of 3D caught us unprepared and the studio where I worked closed down permanently. Those were difficult times, but after the storm came the calm and 2D found its place again, no longer conflicting with 3D but on the contrary, interacting with each other. And so I started working with other studios again.
I started an ongoing collaboration with different projects such as: Tomavista, Sweatbox, Motion Pictures, Tomavision, B-Water and studios in other countries such as: Passion Pictures, Studio Haan, Animundi...). This gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in digital techniques and improve them with my excellent knowledge of traditional technique.
In the last year I moved for a short period to the Canary Islands (Tenerife) where I worked as a Matte Painter, I have no problem moving if the project is solid and minimally durable.

Today my skills extend to different areas: background design, background setting, matte painting, settings and colour keys, concept art, light, shadow, colour and setting guides for 3D artists, floor plans and many other aspects of background art in general.
I deeply love this work. Whenever a project starts, I jump in with enthusiasm and dedication.
In recent years, I have also been dedicating myself to teaching, which is a profession that I love, as a backgrounds teacher, receiving recognition and thanks from many students.
